Candy Floss Workshop

In the LAM museum you smell the sweet smell of burnt sugar from Martijntje Cornelia. Room 4 was specially equipped as a candy floss workshop. With the gigantic photo carpet on the floor, it felt like walking into the artist’s candy floss machine. Pink coats and shoes were ready for visitors who wanted to lend a hand.
Sugar
all over the place
Everyone knows candy floss, but you only really look at it when you come across it in the museum. What beautiful structures are created when you let the woolen sugar crystallize! Some visitors secretly took a bite: ‘This museum candy floss tastes just as sweet as at the fair!’

Artist Martijntje Cornelia made her self-portrait from cotton candy live in the museum. An exciting challenge: ‘A self-portrait is the most intimate, challenging and personal work an artist can make. Especially with so many eyes on me.”

Hall 4 has something special: the room is located on the public footpath that goes straight through the building. Thanks to the gigantic windows, hikers can always peek inside and enjoy.
