Now on display – Chris Soal the most tantalizing work of art in the LAM

In the museum we like to keep things surprising. Every time you will visit us, you will discover new things and you could choose a new favourite art work. The variety of your fellow visitors, the View Coaches or the change of art works will make you look at the art differently.
But now we’ve taken it even bigger. A completely new hall.

In the third hall, along the enormous banquet of Yinka Shonibare, you will find our new acquisitions. Not only that, but also some old acquaintances. Old time favourites that have returned to the museum halls. Together they provide an exuberant room full of fresh inspiration.

These ordinary things will blow you away

An artist does not always choose the most expensive or most unique materials. Sometimes an artist likes to choose whatever he has lying around in his house. Leave it to an artist to transform the recognizable into something very special. Can you recognize everyday materials in our works of art?

It looks like.. uhh.. what is it?

A wavy coral from the deepest oceans, a fluffy rug for the couch or a wonderful insect from a tropical climate. But they are… Toothpicks! Have you ever looked at a toothpick with so much attention? With this work by South African artist Chris Soal you cannot do otherwise.

I want to experience that

Looking forward to seeing you! Book your tickets here quickly and easily. As always, you decide who pays. With a regular ticket you sponsor the art, with the sponsored tickets you are sponsored and you visit the LAM free of charge.
