Our 2019: nominations and awards

What did 2019 bring you? The end of the year is invariably a time to take stock and ask ourselves the big questions.

We are counting our blessings.

Nominations and awards

The most valuable recognition that we receive comes from our visitors. People who were surprised by the building or who were sceptical during construction but are now fans. Those who thought that art would not interest them until they visited the LAM. Children who ask their parents to accompany them. The constant chattering or the booming laughter that resonates throughout the building. All of these things are how we measure success.

Naturally, we are also incredibly proud of the formal nominations we received in 2019, which give cause for even greater celebration.

An overview in random order.

  • The Dutch Creativity Award: a well-known prize from the advertising world and awarded for our innovative museum concept and unusual theme.
  • The RAP 2019: we were nominated for the Rijnlands Architecture Prize.
  • ArchDaily nominated the LAM for ‘Building of the Year 2019’ in the Cultural Architecture category.
  • We won a poster campaign via outdoor advertising company Centercom. The LAM campaign starts in 2020.
