The Low Countries praises the LAM

‘Nothing stands between the viewer and art’, ‘The works are inspiring’. Journalist Edo Dijksterhuis wrote a praiseworthy article about the LAM museum on the international platform The Low Countries.

An oases of peace

Edo Dijksterhuis praises the appearance of the museum building. ‘Compared to the Keukenhof, the LAM is an oasis of peace. With its contemporary appearance, the museum building contrasts sharply with the classicist castle, but it does not clash with its surroundings.’ And: ‘It looks very modest and a lot smaller than it really is.’

The Night Watch of the LAM

The writer has given the name ‘The Night Watch of the LAM’ to the installation Food Chain Project of artist Itamar Gilboa.

Totally different

The special history and emerge of the LAM museum also got a place in the article. ‘Most private museums have their origins in the collecting passion of an individual who wants to share his treasure with a wider audience. But the LAM has gone the other way,’ Says Edo Dijksterhuis. ‘First, there was the idea to build a museum and only then did the collection of art start.’
