Treat yourself to Snack Bliss between 2 July and 31 August at the LAM museum on the Keukenhof Estate in Lisse.
This summer, visitors can indulge in their favourite snacks at the LAM museum — without any of the calories or the mess! Hotdog or not-dog? Chips with or without mayonnaise? Museum-goers can embark on a playful tour filled with delicious snack dilemmas and discover their personal favourites while feasting their eyes on the world’s largest food art collection.
The experience ends in a giant chip tray, where visitors can listen in on other people’s guilty pleasures. Treat yourself to Snack Bliss between 2 July and 31 August at the LAM museum on the Keukenhof Estate in Lisse.
And there’s plenty more for visitors to feast their eyes on. They might find themselves drooling — or maybe even losing their appetite — over the LAM’s snack-themed artworks. Highlights include Sietske Zandbergen’s Fry Guy, a life-sized sculpture of a slumped-over humanoid chip cone; Stijn Rietman’s hyper-realistic painting of an empty chip tray; a hamburger head by Jake and Dinos Chapman; the journey from kernel to popcorn by Navid Nuur; and a stained-glass window made entirely from food containers by Ty Locke.
With its international art collection dedicated to food and consumption, the LAM museum offers fresh perspectives on everyday objects. Unique to the museum are the Viewing Coaches, who bring every work of art to life by offering visitors personalised viewing tips.
“Snack Bliss is a perfect fit for the LAM museum — not just in terms of our art collection but also because of the personal aspect”, says museum director Sietske van Zanten. “Everyone has beliefs around food, and snacking especially tends to spark strong opinions. The ‘chips’ vs ‘French fries’ debate says it all. Snacking is also deeply personal, touching on pleasure and guilt, desire and regret.”
To make the most of the summer holidays, the LAM museum will also open on the following Thursdays: 17 July, 24 July, 7 August, 14 August, 21 August and 28 August. Please note that the museum will be closed from 30 July to 3 August due to Castlefest, the annual fantasy festival held at the Keukenhof Estate.
